Session Overview

This session will provide an overview of how professional services firms establish brand and compete as they grow. Networking and business development skills become increasingly important for many career pathways that have leadership responsibilities. In this session, Leaders will develop increased awareness of what marketing and business development are and how they can leverage their respective skills, interests and professional relationships to contribute to business development objectives.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Define and distinguish between marketing, business development, client development, and networking for professional services firms.

  2. Describe the opportunities and respective objectives and risks for contributing to business development.

  3. Describe tools, approaches and behaviours that support effective business and client development, including building relationships across the business (e.g. marketing, owners, technical staff).

  4. Identify how they can support business development objectives in their daily role and leadership, acknowledging the role of confidence, authenticity, and intention.

  5. An overview of LinkedIn will be presented.

Delivery Options

  • Presentations and workshops are often between 60 minutes and 2.5 hours in duration, depending on needs and extent to which discussion is desired amongst participants.

  • Presentations and workshops are comprised of a variety of engagement tools including short, focused presentations, individual reflective exercises, situational programs, and peer activity, discussions, and learning.

  • During or following the session, participants are encouraged to develop an action plan to support application of learning.

  • The workshop can be delivered in person or online.

  • Many clients decide to engage us for a programme which brings several workshop and presentation options together with optional individual sessions for participants.
